New for 2021: Toyota Tundra vs. Tacoma
At the Chicago Auto Show last year, Toyota unveiled a multitude of upgrades and changes to their current lineup. Among them were the 2021 Tundra and 2021 Tacoma. While there wasn't an overwhelming amount of changes made to either vehicle this year (but look out for 2022!), Toyota did reveal that two new editions for both models have joined the party: the Nightshade Edition and the Trail Special Edition.

With the Trail Special Edition, they've tailored the Tundra and Tacoma specifically to the needs of this audience, emphasizing storage and some serious off-roading capabilities. 2021 Tundra
The 2021 Tundra is the full-sized pickup with the most impressive towing and payload capabilities between the two, and is capable of hauling up to 10,200 lbs. If you plan on putting that rating to the test by towing a trailer to your favourite campsite, the Trail Special Edition is worth looking into! This edition's SR5 CrewMax comes with front bucket seats, a front centre console, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and an anti-theft system with an alarm and engine immobilizer. You'll also get some special edition wheels, a lockable storage unit, plus a larger fuel tank that will run you a fuel efficiency of 18/14.2 L per 100 km (city/highway). With the Nightshade, you can expect luxurious cosmetic upgrades that include black wheels, 20-inch alloy rims, and a black exhaust treatment.
2021 Tacoma
The 2021 Tacoma is the mid-sized little brother that still manages to pack a big punch. Built on the SR5 Double Cab, the Trail Edition offers 18-inch wheels from the TRD Off-Road trim, Kevlar all-terrain tires, a grille from the Tacoma Limited, and a lockable bed storage compartment that includes insulation on the driver side so it can double as a cooler. Perfect for those muddy shoes and tent poles you'll need a place for! Comparatively, the Nightshade is giving us its own Dark Smoke 18-inch wheels, a black exhaust tip and fog-light bezels, and a new grille insert design. Even at mid-size, the Tacoma can comfortably haul up to 6,800 lbs. with a maximum payload of 1,685 ft.-lbs!
